Dr Reiko Kanasawa,
POSTDOCTORATE RESEARCH FELLOW
My name is Reiko Kanazawa (PhD Medical History, University of Exeter) and I will be working on a project called ‘Boundaries of Disease and Governance: AIDS between Global Health and International Drug Control'. It investigates with archival and interview data how HIV/AIDS transmitted through injecting drug use became a global health policy issue in India in the mid-2000s. I am a contemporary historian of global health and international development, studying how countries like India undergoing structural economic transformation use global health to change the meanings of public health provisions and government responsibility after the turbulent 1980s.
